America’s 10 Biggest Nightclubs Earned Over $550 Million In Revenue Last Year
Between crazy cover charges, VIP table reservations, and copious amounts of drink purchases, its undeniable how high the cost of treating yourself to a night out partying can be. After embarking on some statistical research around how much avid goers’ wallets have taken a beating last year, the folks at Nightclub.com were able to give us an informed estimate on the total revenue the top ten clubs in the United States earned in 2014. The result? A staggering $550 million in revenue. That’s right, America’s clubbing world is now said to have an estimated worth of over half a billion dollars—a new high for the industry.
Topping the list are two of the biggest clubs to have ever existed, Las Vegas’s XS and Hakkasan, who each passed the $100 million mark in revenue (probably because table reservations can cost up to $10,000 alone at these clubs…yikes). Along with XS and Hakkasan, 5 more of 2014’s top 10 earning clubs have a home in Las Vegas, with only 3 clubs hailing from other parts of the country; New York City and Miami Beach.
Based on these numbers rising in tandem with the popularity of electronic dance music, it’s easy to credit these history-making statistics to the parallel high demand for the DJ services of cash cow electronic acts, like Las Vegas resident DJs Calvin Harris, Avicii, Hardwell, Kaskade, Skrillex, and Diplo. And it’s clear that there are a handful of high rollers that aren’t turned off in the slightest by the excessive price tags that come associated with a night on the town. Check out Nightclub.com’s list of the U.S.’s top 10 earning clubs below along with their staggering revenue price tag estimates.
Here are the top ten clubs in America, with an estimation of their 2014 earnings (numbers reported are the upper end of the range given):
1. XS, Las Vegas, $105 million
2. Hakkasan, Las Vegas, $103 million
3. Marquee Nightclub, Las Vegas, $85 million
4. TAO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, $55 million
5. LIV, Miami Beach, $45 million
6. Surrender Nightclub, Las Vegas, $45 million
7. LAVO New York, New York City, $35 million
8. Story, Miami Beach, $30 million
9. Hyde Bellagio, Las Vegas, $30 million
10. LAVO Las Vegas, Las Vegas, $25 million

Diplo: “I Get A Lot Of Success Cause I’m White”
According to Diplo, he gets a lot of his success because he’s white.
When speaking with Q Magazine, Diplo apparently said, “I get a lot of success because I’m white. You have to be aware that it’s happening.” Using his failed attempts to drum up interest for baile funk acts outside of Brazil as an example, he pointed out, “Nobody wanted to see some black guy come out of the ghettos of Brazil and talk about real gangsta stuff. I learned really quick what marketing for the rest of the world was like.”
Diplo uses his own observations from traveling across Jamaica and South America, citing a lack of musical identity in these countries and a willingness to absorb the US’s Top 40 hits.
“For us there’s never really a feeling of authenticity because there’s no authenticity there. When I was first going there the biggest record in Jamaica was Owl City’s ‘Fireflies’! Miley Cyrus’s ‘Party In The USA’ shut down Jamaica! So I thought, ‘Who the fuck cares what people in England or America think about me going to Jamaica?’”
It’s not as if Diplo is speaking falsely – I’m sure that a lot of his international success is because he’s white, and due to what’s called “white privilege”.
But to Diplo’s own credit, he’s also a very powerful producer and one of the most consistent icons in modern dance music. His appearance in press has kept his name at the very top of everyone’s mind, and his collaborations, duos and singles prove that he has what it takes in the studio and behind the decks.
Don’t sell yourself short, Diplo.

We Are Your Friends (Official Trailer)
“It’s the DJ’s job to get the crowd out of their heads and into their bodies. I like to start ‘em off at about 125 BPM. Once you’ve locked on to their heart rate, you start bringing them up, song by song. 128 BPM – that’s the magic number.”
Or so Cole Carter (Zac Efron) confidently states in the official trailer for forthcoming film, We Are Your Friends. The movie revolves around Cole, an aspiring DJ, and his group of friends who promote parties. A DJ, he claims, requires just three things: “a laptop, some talent and one track.”

Deadmau5 and Kaskade taunt the world with a preview of their new collaboration with Skylar Grey
Late last night, Deadmau5 previewed yet another track on his soundcloud, one which is apparently being added to a long to-do list from the Canadian electronic kingpin. In typical Joel fashion, though, he neglected to let the world know the other titan behind the production – none other than Kaskade.
The world has long awaited another collaboration between the two artists, and it seems the Skylar Grey-assisted track that Deadmau5 posted last night will be just that. The track is simply beautiful; Deadmau5′s signature synth style rocks hauntingly well with the dark vocal. We may not know release details on this one for a while, but all eyes will be on Kaskade and Deadmau5, awaiting the final product from the two genius musical minds. Release date TBA.

Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Moby, Sebastian Ingrosso & More Star in Funny or Die ‘NCIS: Ibiza’ Parody
Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Moby, Sebastian Ingrosso & More Star in Funny or Die ‘NCIS: Ibiza’ Parody
Comedy site Funny Or Die has enlisted an all-star cast of DJs for NCIS: Ibiza. a parody skit which packs plenty of marquee cameos into a two-minute trailer. Steve Aoki and R3hab star as detectives, while Moby takes a turn as a long-gone raver and Martin Garrix delights as a test tube-focused forensic scientist.
Alison Wonderland plays narrator and the likes of Nile Rodgers, Axwell & Ingrosso and Destructo make noteworthy appearances, Ryan Hemsworth steals the show as “a young Spanish boy trying to make it in the streets and in the clubs… of Ibiza.”

Ed Sheeran – Thinking Out Loud (Deville Tropical House Remix)
We are quickly approaching the Summertime season, and that means vacations, pool parties and backyard barbecues. And along with all of that celebration and downtime comes a lot of music listening. Music is always changing taste and tempo, but one thing stays true…we need it in our lives. Being a great DJ is ever-more challenging today with the amount of sub-genres and developing sounds of the industry. Not to mention mixing them with the older essentials which will never change in the world of the more classic minded party goers. Versatility is key.
Having recently relocated to the fine city of Las Vegas, I’m looking forward producing all new music and working together with the rest of the Club Killers Team on some amazing projects. But having so much EDM, Electro, Twerk and Trap under my belt, I decided to switch gears with my latest produced remix of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud”. Tropical house is trendy this year but I also think it will be here to stay because of its ability to please the ears of many categories of listeners. That being said, I decided to take two genres I normally don’t dabble in and make them into a Tropical House remix that I would like to share with all of you now.

Diplo @ 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas
Earlier last month we had the chance to capture some exclusive footage of an interview at 98.5 KLUC Las Vegas with Club Killers family DJ CO1 & Yung Jon Que as they caught up with international superstar DJ & producer Diplo.
Diplo has become an international brand with his dynamic production and nearly plays 300 gigs per year. I was fortunate enough to film an interview with Diplo as he talked about his experiences with working with Madonna, as well as drinking that $100,000 water with 2 Chainz and some interesting facts about the ‘Lean On’ music video.
Through some listener contest from the station, there were some fans who were lucky enough to come meet Diplo. For the interview we used five cameras to get different angles on Diplo, the interviewers DJ CO1 and Yung Jon Que, as well as the fans. Also, we had two LED light panels to get the right exposure. The interview went well and as soon as it was over, he was nice enough to sign autographs and take pictures with fans even though he had to catch a flight to DJ at Coachella the same day.
