Skrillex is back. Though, as his comeback campaign rolls forward, the LA-based superstar is clearly having fun keeping everyone guessing with a creative stretch of the legs. Starting with an artful collaborative piece alongside Four Tet and Starrah, “Butterflies,” then bouncing from the genre-blending appeal of “Too Bizarre” with Swae Lee and Siiickbrain to the gritty drum ‘n’ bass stylings of “Supersonic (My Existence)” with josh pan and Dylan Brady, all in less than two month’s time, an older, wiser Skrillex has emerged, and he refuses to be pinned down by a single sound. Now, he’s headed back to where things started this year, delivering the full visual for “Butterflies.”

Skrillex’s latest adds to a long line of fascinating music videos over the years from the OWSLA head honcho. Often narrative in style, driven by airtight choreography, and shot practically with key CG elements and VFX to help bring the story to life, the video for “Butterflies” falls right in line with a lengthy list of incredibly well-produced visuals. David Guetta has sold his music catalogue spanning two decades to Warner Music for over $100 million, reports the Financial Times.

In a deal that also gives Warner the rights to any music that the producer creates in the future, the record label now owns Guetta’s notable tracks such as ‘Titanium’, ‘Memories’ and ‘Sexy Bitch’.

The 53-year old is now one of the youngest musicians to have sold their backlog of music for such an astonishing amount. Stevie Nicks, Neil Young and Bob Dylan are amongst the highest priced catalogue sellers in recent years.

Neil Young sold just half of his 1,180 song catalogue to Hipgnosis for $150 million earlier this year. David Guetta, who has made 50 million record sales worldwide during the span of his career, stated that the deal would help in “working my extensive catalogue and continuing to build my career.”

During Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s of Verzuz rematch over the weekend, Swizz was ready to settle some business with Justin Timberlake.

Sunday’s rematch not only celebrated both megawatt producers’ catalogs, but also the last year of Verzuz battles they spawned at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. But when Timbo started pulling songs from JT’s discography, Swizz was ready to hit pause.

“Until you can get Justin Timberlake on Verzuz, I don’t really wanna hear those vocals,” he said with a laugh after his competitor played Jay-Z’s 2013 Grammy-winning song “Holy Grail,” which Timberlake is featured on.

Timbo previously teased a Verzuz battle between Timberlake and Usher on ESPN’s Jalen & Jacoby earlier this year, which Drake pitched as his dream battle via Instagram DM. “Drake hit me up about it too. He said, ‘We gotta make that happen, we gotta make that happen,'” he recalled of their conversation. “Soon to come, soon to come.”

“He gotta admit that he love the Black culture and he gotta be on this stage,” Swizz continued before formally inviting him to participate in the long-awaited Verzuz battle. “You took from the Black culture, you give to the Black culture! Come to Verzuz and be a part of the Black culture!”

Lil Nas X made a memorable debut on Saturday Night Live‘s season 46 finale this weekend, performing live renditions of his No.1 track “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and his new single “Sun Goes Down.”

The 22-year-old rapper opened up his musical set with the platinum-selling track and partially reenacted the controversial music video. Halfway through the song, Lil Nas X headed to the back of the stage to perform a pole dancing routine but encountered difficulties.

K-pop supergroup BTS just shattered another record — previously set by the band themselves — for the biggest YouTube music video premiere in history.

On Thursday, the band released a music video for their new single “Butter,” the second all-English song for the group after last year’s hit “Dynamite.” According to YouTube, the song held a record 3.9 million peak concurrents when it first released on the site, racking up an impressive 108.2 million views within the first 24 hours.

“Dynamite” previously held the record for most YouTube views within 24 hours, boasting 101 million views after it was released on August 20, 2020. The video currently has over one billion views.

BTS now hold the first and second spots on YouTube’s all-time top 24 hour music debuts.
