Facebook Introduces Music Stories
Once again, Facebook is trying to become the ultimate social media platform by revolutionizing music sharing. Music Stories, the new feature which will take effect this week, allows users to post snippets of their favorite songs on the social media site from Spotify or Apple Music. The user would simply copy the song’s URL path from either of the two streaming services and paste it on Facebook like they would a written blurb or link.
Friends and other users would be able to see the selection and listen to upwards of 30 seconds before possibly clicking on the song. This will take them back to the original streaming service to buy, like, add to playlist, etc. Music Stories give users the ability to preview their friends’ or favorite artists’ current tastes while discovering new music. They’ll also be able to comment on the user’s choice just like any post made on the social media platform. Facebook also plans to include more streaming services in the future.
We’re introducing “Music Stories” today to enable better music discovery and sharing on Facebook. The new post format…

Mixcloud partners with Apple TV and announced its own app
With the streaming race more intense than ever and SoundCloud’s constant track takedowns, Mixcloud looks to take its growing library of DJ mixes, radio shows, podcasts, and more to a mass audience with its own Apple TV partnership.
Fans will be able to browse through Mixcloud’s entire library and play any of the site’s uploaded content. Apple TV currently offers a variety of video streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Vimeo, HBOGO, and the company’s own media stores. With Spotify and SoundCloud absent, MixCloud finds themselves as the premier source for long-form music consumption on Apple TV and could gain serious market share in the home environment with this move. This partnership comes after MixCloud joined the Sonos app library, which hosts most of the music streaming power players like Spotify, SoundCloud, Pandora, Deezer, and SiriusXM.
The MixCloud app is now live on Apple TV. Follow us on Mixcloud: https://www.mixcloud.com/ClubKillers/

Diplo talks rise to fame on CBS This Morning
There’s no denying the fact that dance music has officially completed its merger with the commercial media. If huge corporate sponsorships at your favorite events or a feature-length film starring Zac Efron weren’t clear indicators, take Diplo on your mother’s favorite morning talk show with Charlie Rose as the strongest example yet. Dance music has gone day-time TV, and you know what? That’s just fine. With Diplo representing the commercial side of dance music on CBS This Morning, it’s evident that his meteoric rise is directly correlated to dance music’s explosion in America within the last five years.
Seeing Diplo, or Wesley, in any setting outside of a human hamster ball steam-rolling a sea of fans always takes a moment to get used to. But as Diplo describes electronic music as the sound of our day, remarking on its accessibility, he explains that finding his current fame was no walk in the park.
Not a classically-trained musician, the Mad Decent label head tells the hosts that his true abilities lie in his creative process, describing the grinding busy work as he slowly established his brand. Diplo divulges on his leap of faith into the music world at age 23 – bouncing between jobs at the zoo, Subway, and an elementary school before taking pop’s top spot. Charlie Rose crowns “Lean On” the song of the summer as the hosts dive into Wes’ work with pop icons Madonna and Justin Bieber, and all the while, Diplo fields their questions with a slick charm.
Though, Gayle King turns the tables in asking Diplo point blank if his “badboy” persona is all just an act. Frankly, it makes you wonder. Considering the way in which Wes describes his rise to fame, relentless work ethic, and desire to push creative boundaries from Jack Ü and Major Lazer to everything in between, Diplo probably doesn’t deserve such a bad rap. In fact, he proves electronic music can be intelligent, and if others were as dedicated, then anyone – even a kid from Florida with no classical music training – can grab a laptop, start creating, and maybe one day take over the world.

SoundCloud takes aim at repost networks, begins to ban accounts who abuse the feature
The proliferation of repost networks and thirsty artists desperate for easy plays has turned the SoundCloud feeds of most users into a steady stream of mediocre music rather than the discovery platform it was intended to be. Many have noticed this trend, and so has SoundCloud, who have just begun issuing temporary bans on accounts who are abusing the feature for play manipulation or worse, selling reposts for monetary gains.
According to Pigeons & Planes, 1833.fm have had their SoundCloud account temporarily blocked after repeatedly reposting tracks from other accounts in an attempt to juice plays. SoundCloud asserts that such behavior “loses that human feeling,” although 1833.fm claims to only be reposting 3-6 times per day.
The current ban on the channel is only for 9 hours, but it is expected that ban lengths will increase exponentially with each consecutive infraction. Don’t put on your tinfoil hats just yet, but P&P hypothesizes that the bans are being targeted — most likely at large channels and those that operate as part of payola-esque repost networks like EDM.com and their ilk.
The messages from SoundCloud are attached below via Pigeons & Planes.

Carl Cox weighs in on why he is ending his 15-year Space Ibiza residency
Countless questions were raised following Carl Cox’s sudden announcement that he would be ending his 15-year residency at Space Ibiza, but now the techno trailblazer provides fans with an in-depth explanation as to why: Ushuaïa Group will be taking over the superclub in 2017.
The Brit admitted to Inthemix, “It’s not that I’m walking away from the club, because Pepe [Rosello], the owner of Space, his contract is up at the club. He’s going to be 80 years old and will officially be out. It gets handed over to Ushuaïa Group across the road and its manager Jan will be given the keys to run Space. And once that happens, everything changes. So I have no desire to stay in that club for any reason.”
Cox goes on to discuss Ushuaïa’s ulterior motives, and that the promoter hoped he would continue his residency merely because it would help bring in significant cash flow. He can already envision Space’s downward spiral into a “models & bottles” type of venue, and the notion of being tied to a club that capitalizes on money as opposed to the music is, in a word, horrifying.
“…My heart tells me I will not ever do that – because if Pepe’s not there, I am not there. We grew up together, we’ve been all the way through this together, and we’re going to finish together. And I’m quite happy about that, because it means we leave the legacy of a club that made a difference. We can walk away with that – the legendary status of what used to happen at Space when we were there – because no one else can emulate that, it’s not possible.”
