Will Smith talks to Zane Lowe on Beats 1
Although Will Smith has been busy making kids and stuff (his words), he had time last week to drop his first guest track in a decade. The release prompted a visit to Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, where the former Fresh Prince dished about more new music, his movie career, and what the heck is happening with that on-again-off-again, long-awaited Bad Boys sequel. Read on for highlights.
On his stash of other forthcoming jams:
I’m pretty much poppin’ in the studio every day, and I’m looking for artists to collaborate with, and I’m trying to find that voice. I have so many things that I wanna say, and I’m struggling with saying them in a way that fits the flavor of music that I tend to like. I’ve got a lot of young artists and young philosophers trying to help me extract the ideas from my mind and my heart. But I probably have 30 songs — six to seven that I really, really like.
On a potential tour with DJ Jazzy Jeff (full details currently unavailable, but it’ll likely be a result of all that new music):
I’m hoping this summer is the first time we go out on a full world tour. I’m terrified.
On how he gets over creative fear (a.k.a., how he got over the After Earth ordeal):
After Earth was really the first time I had a massive, public execution, a thoroughly and completely accepted failure. But with that, that Monday morning, I got right on the treadmill … top of the year, I jumped out of an airplane. I was like, No fear. Anything I’m scared of, I’m attacking. I just got back into the mindset of being comfortable to go out there and fall on my face. If you’re not willing to fall on your face, you can’t create on a high level.
On the next Bad Boys:
There’s a very, very, very strong possibility that you will be seeing a Bad Boys within the next 12 to 16 months.
You can watch the whole interview, which also includes bits about age in hip-hop, Jaden, Willow, Suicide Squad, and Smith’s general creative process, here:

Toddler DJ Is Almost Ready To Take Your Next Gig
From singing Scottish ladies to mind-bending body contortionists, the worldwide Got Talent series never fails to pull out impressive and surprising auditions. South Africa’s Got Talent has now hit the headlines with a performance from a three year old toddler, who threw down an impressive set on the old ‘ones and twos’.
We’ve reported on DJ Arch Jnr. before, and previously wished him success in his future career. Who knew that less than a year later, the young selector would power his way through South Africa’s Got Talent audition stage, by winning the crowd over and getting the coveted ‘Golden Button’.
We all know he didn’t really do much as a DJ but it’s pretty awesome for a 3 year old right? Hot-cues and cross-fades abound as DJ Arch Jr. works up the crowd and looks completely nonplussed by the whole ordeal, just like the cool dude he is. So crazy that a crowd can be so entertained by so little, but I guess it’s very similar to the type of people who go see this big edm “acts” put their hands up.

Listen to Will Smith’s first song in 10 years
There have been rumors about Will Smith’s imminent return to the rap game, and now a decade later, it’s finally here. Smith has provided a remix to “Fiesta,” a hit song by the Colombian electronic group Bomba Estéreo. According to Billboard, he heard the song while in Colombia and was struck by its dynamic combination of uptempo beats with Latin rhythms.
“When I was told that Will Smith wanted to collaborate on a remix with Bomba, I couldn’t believe it,” said Simón Mejia of Bomba Estéreo. “This opportunity to work with Will was beyond anything we have dreamed of. It’s not a traditional featuring—it’s just magic.”
Meanwhile, the former “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” is working on a reboot of his popular ’90s sitcom and has reportedly been in the studio with Kanye West and Drake.

SFX desperately searches for a buyer
Following a recent string of unfortunate events for SFX Entertainment, what with TomorrowWorld’s battle with mother nature, a lawsuit from Abbey Spanier, and a massive fall in share prices, the dance music conglomerate has opted to extend its bid deadline until October 14th. Initially due by tomorrow, SFX is giving potential buyers more time to weigh the pros and cons of purchasing the New York-based concert promoter.
Currently up for grabs is the company as a whole or its “non-core assets” – an enticing array of subsidiaries including Beatport, Totem OneLove Group, ID&T, Flavorus, and React Presents, to name a few. Robert Sillerman has agreed to “vote all shares beneficially owned by him in favor of a transaction involving the sale of the company,” an action lauded by former investor Steven Azarbad of Maglan Capital. It is predicted that Sillerman has spent over $1 billion on acquisitions since 2012.
“Thankfully we sold out of it a while ago,” Azarbad added. “It’s been a real mess of an investment. We sold out of it when it was five bucks a share. Now it’s 55 cents? That’s pretty gross.”

Low Key – featuring Irina
I invited my friend Irina that just arrived from Russia about a month ago to come do a photoshoot for Club Killers. I was staying at another friend’s place which was filled with instruments, vintage collectibles and a great vinyl collection. As soon as we got started I asked Irina to sit by the piano while I set up my camera. As soon as she sat down, she started to play it. “You play?” I asked her. “Yes, I sing and I write songs.” Then she went off to singing and play a cover song to ‘Wrecking ball’. I am not going to lie, that just put a smile on my face. What can I say, I love music and I love talented people.
So here’s our feature model Irina Gorbunova wearing a Club Killers Crop Top.

What’s in Your Vinyl Collection?
One thing they don’t tell you about collecting vinyl. You will totally spend all your money on buying records, and that’s not even counting the accessories.
Despite the fact of how expensive the hobby can be, the sound of music from a vinyl that was not master from a CD is a pleasing one. The idea of owning music that is so rare also adds to the mystique of it, or maybe is the fun fact that you spend so much time on a quest out to find that rare record that was only made in a far far away land. Once you get it in your hands, is like finding gold at the bottom of a dusty old crate.
So what’s in your collection?

DJ DVS on Club Killers Radio
CK Radio Episode 139 – DJ DVS by Club Killers on Mixcloud
What up CK fam! This week’s featured DJ is DJ DVS from the Bay Area, I chose this mix because it was really different from what every one else was playing. After listening to Lean On & Fetty Wap over and over we had to put in a mix to break the monotony. I loved his classic house throwback theme, it was perfect. Really took me back to the days that I fell in love with DJ & nightlife culture. Hopefully you enjoy the mix as well.
