Pioneer DJ DJM-S9 Official Introduction
DJ Jazzy Jeff says it’s “probably the best mixer I’ve ever seen”.
Pioneer DJ has announced details of its next mixer, the two-channel DJM-S9 mixer for Serato DJ.
The DJM-S9 is designed with scratch DJs in mind, taking inspiration from Pioneer’s DJM-909 battle mixer. As well as what Pioneer DJ claims is a fast and accurate crossfader, the mixer also comes with performance pads and FX buttons that can be mapped to your preferred functions, offering easy access to functions like roll, slicer and loop.
The mixer has also been designed with practicality in mind, featuring two soundcards for seamless transitions between DJs, or so you can easily play back-to-back. If the standard version isn’t quite flashy enought for you, Pioneer DJ is offering a limited edition gold model, along with matching versions of its PLX-1000 turntables.
You can watch the mixer in action in the video below, where it gets a glowing endorsement from DJ Jazzy Jeff, who says it’s “probably the best mixer he’s ever seen”. It’s released in November, but doesn’t come cheap – it’s rumored to cost $2073.83

Drake’s “Back To Back” Performance At OVO Fest Is a Sight To See
Drake’s sixth annual OVO Fest had plenty of memorable moments, with appearances from Kanye West, Pharrell, and more, but it seems like nothing topped his opening entrance. Thanks to Nigel D, we now have full footage of the opening, which featured Drizzy coming onstage to “Charged Up,” before switching over to “Back To Back,” which sent the crowd into an absolute frenzy.
Though the song is less than a week old, fans were singing along to every word while Drake posted countless Meek Mill memes on the OVO Fest screen to make the lyrics of the diss song hit home harder than they already did. While final numbers aren’t out just yet, it will be interesting to see where “Back To Back” debuts on the charts this week, as it’s been near the top of the iTunes since it was loaded to the store over the weekend.

Free Download: V.I.C. – Wobble (Deville Twerk Remix)
When it comes to essential dance tracks, love it or hate it, “The Wobble” is always going to be on that list. Since I’ve had my fill of the original, I decided to turn up the twerk and make this ready for your peak hour mix show.
I actually got the idea sifting through Acapellas and this one really stood out because it has all the elements for a quality twerk banger, but I felt like the original beat dynamics take away from its ability to be included in a serious twerk set.
Stripping it down to the MC call-outs and a couple of key phrases from V.I.C., I think this one now serves as a quality addition to a high energy twerk/EDM set while still catering to the not-so-savvy club goer that wants to hear familiarity. I really hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more Deville remixes coming soon!

Dr. Dre Announces Compton: The Soundtrack, Explains Why Detox Never Came Out
My grand finale. #Comptonapple.co/compton
Posted by Dr Dre on Saturday, August 1, 2015
The rumors are true: Dr. Dre will release a new album in the near future. The rapper took to his Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy to confirm reports of a Straight Outta Compton soundtrack produced by Dre as well as additional details regarding Dre’s first LP since 1999’s 2001. During Saturday’s “Countdown to Compton” episode, Dre revealed that Compton: A Soundtrack will arrive on August 7th exclusively on iTunes and Apple Music. Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, the Game and many more will feature on the 16-track LP, which can be preordered here.
“During principal photography, I felt myself going to the studio and being so inspired by the movie that I started recording an album,” Dre said on The Pharmacy. “I kept it under wraps, and now the album is finished. It’s bananas. It’s an ‘inspired by’ album. It’s inspired by Straight Outta Compton, we’re gonna call the album Compton: The Soundtrack. I’m really proud of this.” Dre also called the album his “grand finale.”
Dre also revealed why he never released his long-delayed Detox: “It just wasn’t good.” “This is something you’re not gonna hear many artists say. The reason Detox didn’t come out was because I didn’t like it. It wasn’t good,” Dre admitted. “I’m gonna keep it all the way one-thousand with you, seriously. I worked my ass off on it, I don’t think I did a good enough job, and I couldn’t do that to my fans and I couldn’t do that to myself, to be perfectly honest with you. I just wasn’t feeling it.”
On The Pharmacy, Dre was joined by Ice Cube and Straight Outta Compton director F. Gary Gray to discuss the N.W.A biopic and its much-anticipated soundtrack.
During the episode, Cube and Dre reminisced about first meeting in high school in 1983 or 1984 (“You’re showing our age,” Dre quipped) and how they bonded over their “mutual love of hip-hop.” “It just grew from there into this crazy, life-changing relationship,” Dre said of his friendship with Ice Cube. The N.W.A pair also talked about growing up in Compton and the biopic itself.
Ice Cube appeared on Philadelphia’s Power 99 Wednesday morning and let slip the news about Dre’s Straight Outta Compton soundtrack. While Cube gave an August 1st release date for the album, multiple sources told Rolling Stone that the album will be released at a later date than Saturday, which is ultimately when Dre confirmed the record. “It’s mega. It’s Dr. Dre, it’s what everybody’s been waiting for,” Ice Cube told the Rise & Grind Morning Show. “It’s definitely a dope record, and he’s dropping it all on the same day.”
During a March 2015 radio interview, Dre first revealed that he was working on a soundtrack for Straight Outta Compton. “I’m working on something right now. I don’t want to put it out there just yet and say that I’m definitely gonna put it out. But I’m really feeling what I’m working on right now,” Dre said. “This would be a record that’s inspired by the movie.” Straight Outta Compton hits theaters August 14th.

Lil Dicky – Professional Rapper (Feat. Snoop Dogg)
In celebration of the release of his debut LP, Professional Rapper, comedian Lil Dicky premieres the music video for the album’s title track on the same day, Friday, July 31.
The music video, directed by Al Levine and Doug Olsen, features the sarcastic Philly rapper getting interviewed by OG rapper, Snoop Dogg, for the position of “Professional Rapper.” His sole objective is to state his case as to why he deserves a chance.
“Coming out of corporate America, every move I made involved a job interview,” Lil Dicky tells Billboard. “So if my next job is being a rapper, I thought it would be super cool to start the album out with a job interview. And who better to be interviewing me for the position than the legendary Snoop Dogg.”
Professional Rapper comes two years after the debut of his mixtape, So Hard. The rapper launched a Kickstarter soon after to fund “phase two of my rap career.” Lil Dicky raised more than $113,000 in one month, exceeding his goal of $70,000.

The Game Takes Drake To Compton For The ‘100’ Video
The Game is as well-versed in rap beef as any other rapper in the, um, game, so of course he drops his video for “100” featuring Drake while the latter’s name is hot. Directed by Theo Skudra, the visual is a ton of performance shots of Drizzy and Chuck intercut with tons of B-roll of the Compton scenery and a ton of city’s residents. Game’s red Blue Jays jersey is dope, and the name on the back being Drake’s is a touch only the name-drop king could pull off.
Game’s Documentary 2 has no official release date, but it was as August 28th recently on Amazon, only to be deleted eventually. While you wait on the album, “100” can be purchased on iTunes here.

Pioneer DJ teases “new performance horizons” for Rekordbox
Pioneer DJ’s Rekordbox software has previously been a tool for letting artists prepare for sets and organise their track libraries, but the company is promising “new performance horizons” for the software. The teaser video below throws up a few interesting details including what look like proper track decks and an effects rack, suggesting it might be about to go up against Traktor and Serato.
Pioneer is being typically tight-lipped on the matter, with no concrete details released as yet
